Dancing Korver

Melissa and Jon and their kids came to our house a couple weekends ago to celebrate Melissa's birthday. While some music was playing we started laughing as we saw Korver dancing. He can't even move around yet (well she just informed me that he now scoots as of last Thursday), but he sure can dance. He responded to music since he was born, but at 7 months he has found a way to dance. If you listen carefully you can hear the music.
Here is the video:

Arches

I went on a trip with work to Arches. Families First was invited to go with the girls community in Tooele, called Alpine Academy, because we are going to be working with them doing transition work. It was a lot of fun! I can't believe I haven't been before. For those of you out there who haven't been yet either, plan a trip soon.
The whole group:
We saw many arches, but this view was beautiful

These next few pictures are in the Fiery Furnace. You have to go with a Tour Guide or someone else who is trained. But it is totally worth it.

Skull Arch

Beginning of the trail at the famous Delicate Arch. This is my Families First group.

Delicate Arch was more amazing than I ever imagined. It is spectacular as it just stands there on its own, magnificent in size.

Tabernacle Organ

I had the amazing opportunity to attend 4 organ workshops with the Tabernacle organist, Richard Elliott! At the end of the classes he allowed those who had attended all the classes to play the Tabernacle organ. Seriously a once in a lifetime opportunity. People come from all over the world to place the Tabernacle organ! What was even more exciting was that Barrett and I have been preparing a piano/organ duet for church and were able to play it together at the Tabernacle. I wish it was on video for everyone to hear, but the pictures (which are still amazing) will have to do.Our organ class

Playing "All Creatures of Our God and King"
Richard changed the stops for us, making everything sound dramatic and exciting.

He took us on a tour of the pipe chambers after, which is another amazing sight in itself.

Jon Schmidt's dad just happened to take the classes and Jon was able to play the organ there as well. We thought we'd get a picture between the two famous LDS stars.

Haircut

After a few months of long hair, Barrett's hair is now short (much to the happiness of his mom). Because of the increasing comments I decided I would post a picture of the new Barrett.

LAS VEGAS BABY!

We had such a great time in Las Vegas! It went by too fast and we both came back to busy life.

This first picture was the day we arrived at my sister's house in Henderson

We were so excited to see our first Las Vegas show the Beatles, "Love" by Cirque de Soleil

My sister and brother-in-law had never been to a show there either.

My niece and nephew wrestling. Despite the fact Caden is 2 1/2 years older than Maliya, she keeps up with him and almost always ends up on top :)

For St. Patrick's Day we decided to make and eat green jello.

We were able to do a session in the Las Vegas Temple which was a great experience.
( Someday Barrett and I will make a blooper slideshow of the not-so-good pictures strangers take for us. Here is the best of the three taken at the temple. The stranger was just a little crooked.)

One morning we went on a long hike/walk around Lake Mead that used to be a railroad track.

Because it was formally a railroad track, there were awesome tunnels to walk through.

We were able to watch one of Ryan's volleyball teams play a game.

Ryan was super busy the whole week and this is a picture of what he was doing constantly.

Another candid picture by a stranger... the top of the sign is cut off, but at least it's not as crooked.

The conservatory in the Bellagio

Waiting for the fountain show...

On our way home :( Barrett's face shows more of how we felt. We had a great time with Brittney, Ryan, Maliya, Caden and hope to see them soon. Thanks for everything... we love you guys!

Update...

I know that I haven't posted for a long time, but there is nothing going on worth posting. However, I know that people like to look at blogs and read a new post even if it is not significant (sorry there are no pictures). So here goes: Barrett has been extremely busy with school the last few weeks so I have lost my hubby to studying. We have been able to go on a few dates though, including ice skating with my sister and brother-in-law and attending a U gymnastics meet last week with our friends Natalie and Robbie. My life has also been busy and stressful with work. But I am on the downhill until our vacation. Yes, we are going to visit my sister in Henderson, Nevada for Barrett's Spring Break and leave in 3 days! Neither of us have ever needed a break more. While I am down in Vegas I plan to make some drastic changes to my blog. There is a lot I want to take off and add around my blog, so look forward to that. Plus we will have tons of pictures from our trip from all the fun stuff we have planned! Here is my update, but it's mostly because I wanted to change my background to something more springy and less snowy, hoping this may scare the snow away until the next winter. Warm weather here we come...

25 Random Things About Me

There has been a forward going around Facebook where you write 25 things about yourself. I saw that someone had put this on their blog for others to read who are not on Facebook and thought it was a good idea, so I copied (thanks Ashley).
1. I was lucky to find my husband in high school where we had the perfect relationship... and still do :)
2. One of my biggest pet peeves is misspelled words, even in text messages (ha ha, I'll try and make sure I don't have any in this)
3. There were three instruments I wanted to play in my life: organ, violin, and harp. I play the organ, took maybe three violin lessons from my old roommate, Kjersten (thanks), and have never touched a harp.
4. I have always wanted to try oil painting but am deathly afraid I will be horrible so I never try.
5. I climbed Mt. Olympus in the summer and would have died without Barrett.
6. I am going to run a 5K this summer. This is surprising for me because I have always hated running and never had the desire to be in a race.
7. Crock pots are the best way to make dinner in a busy world. I have something in there right now :)
8. I want a lot of children and have a feeling most of them will be boys.
9. I would rather jump out of an airplane (skydiving of course) than scuba dive.
10. I love school and plan on receiving my Master's and PhD. someday...
11. My biggest dream is to go to Africa, preferably doing humanitarian projects. I'm not sure why but I talk about it all the time, just ask Barrett.
12. My job is a lot like going on a mission, so the boys say.
13. I always want to buy necklaces because I don't have any, but then the earrings are so much cheaper that I buy the earrings instead. Thus, I hardly wear necklaces.
14. I don't like scrap booking anymore: I'm not creative enough, it takes too much time, it costs too much, and all I really want to look at is the pictures anyway :)
15. Since I stopped writing regularly in my journal in high school I always go through a guilt phase because I don't write anymore. I should start doing that.
16. I used to be obsessed with The Office and my obsession has since changed to The Biggest Loser.
17. I forgot to take my Utah State Aggies license plate cover off my old car before I traded it in :(
18. I love making lists and crossing the items off. Sometimes I even write something down that I've already finished so I can cross it off. I am driven by completion.
19. I am always a little envious of people with curly hair.
20. I have become somewhat of a health nut this last year. I'm always buying the low fat stuff and making Barrett eat fruits and vegetables.
21. I learned that I am horrible at visualizing things in my head. That's probably why I am not very good at drawing, decorating, or dressing, hmmmm
22. I'm probably the most unobservant person you've met.
23. But besides that I remember the most minute details that don't matter. I honestly could tell you my thoughts and feelings from any particular event clear back in high school.
24.I am attending FREE organ classes from the famous tabernacle organist, Richard Elliot!
25. Someday the list of all the things I want to learn and accomplish in my life will be crossed off.
