Cabin

My sister Melissa and her husband Jon invited us to go with them for the weekend to Jon's parents' cabin. It was beautiful, relaxing, away from the world, and a lot of fun to be with their family. For some reason I didn't get a picture of the outside, but it is so pretty. The kind of cabin we all dream of.

We went on that snowy weekend a few weeks ago and were nervous we might get stuck up there... but we probably wouldn't have minded.

It is a three-level cabin with a loft.

One of the best parts of the cabin was being with my cute nephews. They have tons of energy and are fun to be around. Korver (above) must have gone up and down the stairs a million times, and Ethan and Seth (below) were obsessed with the "poof" (aka lovesac).
One night we even had a dance! This should be done more often, it was way fun.

I know Melissa' eyes are closed, but I love the picture of their family. For some reason the picture is just a perfect description of them.

Here are a couple more pictures of the valley from the top floor of the cabin. You can see the progression of the storm in all the outside pictures.

Halloween 2009

Creepy picture isn't it?
We were inspired from Barrett's sister's (Morgan) dance concert called "Freaky Friday," to be zombies for Halloween. It was actually really fun to destroy the clothes and put make-up on that made us look dead. But I don't think anyone was scared of us. Too bad.

We went to our friends, Shane and Teresa's house for an awesome Halloween party! (Notice the butthead next to the Christmas Tree: This is Shane) After eating pizza, we played Pin the Tail on the Cat, Halloween Bingo, Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin, and made caramel apples. This year I decided that I really like Halloween. It's a weird holiday, but definitely fun.

Since both Julie and Whitney's husbands could not come to the party they decided to dress up as sister missionaries, and I have to say they pulled it off well. Whitney brought her adorable new baby and I am bummed I didn't take a picture to put on the blog.

2nd Painting

I love oil painting! I know I've only done two paintings, but it is definitely a new art that I can use to express myself. I'm not sure what I will be doing with all the paintings, but its' exciting to finish. I didn't name this one, so if you have any ideas... I found this picture in Barrett's mission photos, but he has no recollection of ever taking it. Weird. But because it was in there, we assume it is somewhere in Texas. (If you click on the photo it enlarges.)

Fishing

Barrett and I were able to go fishing with Barrett's grandpa (Grandpa Taylor) at Strawberry Reservoir. This was my first official fishing experience out on a lake in a boat. It was fun to see the fog on the lake and catch fish! The fish weren't very big, so don't expect much... and they told me it was a slow day. I wouldn't know the difference.
